Forum rules and regulations - including posting instructions
Everything you need to know before using NissanOwnersClub.co.za

Welcome to Nissan Owners Club - South Africa.

Before you post on the Forums, please read this whole page. These are not just rules, but tips which make the forums run better for everyone.
In order to post here, you must follow these tips and rules. If you break any of the rules below in your post, it may be deleted.

Don’t Be Afraid To Post.
If you’re new to our community, taking the step for the first time to post publicly to a message board can sometimes seem intimidating. Don’t be afraid to jump into a discussion. We have a very supportive community that serves up heavy doses of support, encouragement and enthusiasm. We love meeting new people and being friendly. While we hope that you’ll become an active participant and join in our discussions, you’re welcome, of course, to simply hang out silently until you feel more comfortable posting a message.

Forum Posting Tips & Rules

Users may not post under multiple names.
Multiple user accounts are not acceptable, any members seen to be flaunting this rule will find one or all of their accounts being deleted or banned, the account that is deleted/banned is done so at the deleting Moderators' descretion (either or all accounts may be deleted/banned) and the member in question may not be advised about his/her account(s) being terminated.

Please consider an appropriate Forum before posting your topic, there is a brief description on the Forum index under each board, of what can be posted.

Give the post a MEANINGFUL TITLE, so that our readers do not waste their time reading posts about things that they have no interest in. The content of the post should be clear from the title. Please be brief in the title of the post, but yet specific enough so readers will know if the post will be of interest to them.

When posting a new thread, make sure that your thread includes:
- A clear title. Make sure it gives a hint as to what information you are seeking. Threads with titles like “HELP!” or “Need help with……” are often ignored, because they are obnoxious.
- A detailed description of the problem. The more information you provide will allow us to better assist you.
- List any recent work that has been done, and any attempts made to fix the current problem.
- Make sure your post is related to the specific forum you are posting to.

Do not post a question or information that has been posted previously. In order to make sure you are not repeating a question or information be sure to read all of the thread you wish to post to before posting.

Please do not start a new thread on a topic already being discussed. Use the search function and read the forum prior to posting. We would appreciate new members using the search feature before posting on topics that have already been discussed extensively before.

All posts regarding racing MUST be posted in the section catering for racing. This section is an often un-moderated section. Please post in and read this section at your own free will. By reading any post in the "Race Results" section, you agree not to use any information posted in it against Nissan Owners Club, the website, it's moderators and it's owners.

DO NOT cross-post threads. Please only post your thread once. Multiple threads are only an annoyance, and do nothing to improve response time. (unless you're seeking a negative response )

DO NOT post iN aLL uPPer CaSe. IT IS LIKE YELLING. This goes for TITLES as well.

DO NOT post a follow-up unless you have something to add to the original post or at least a few days have passed by.

DO NOT post your question in someone else’s thread if if doesn't relate to your problem, this only creates confusion.

DO NOT post a message that takes the current topic away from it's origins. Respect the author and the forum rules.

Posts created in a "dotty" style cause inconvenience to other members. Please do not type using excessive dots / fullstops (e.g. The new car launch.......is expected......in June........).

After posting your thread please be patient. The members of this forum are volunteers and have lives outside of the forum. As soon as someone that has information about your problem sees your question, they will reply.

Please dont leave the forum straight after receiving an answer to a question you initially joined to ask, stick around, you might like it!

Please don't expect people to reply to your postings via email. Email only helps you - others probably have the same question and would like to know the answer. Keep the exchange of useful information public; that's what we're all here for! Also note, if you post "Email me for the answer," you could get 1,000 e-mails.

Please don't email members of the forum to ask inappropriate questions. Keep the exchange of useful information public; that's what we're all here for!

For your safety, please exercise caution when posting your telephone number on the forums.

Chat/SMS Lingo is not permitted for use on the forum. Therefore, "my" is not "mi", "before" is not "b4" and "that" is not "dat". Posting in this format generally means threads/posts are often ignored.

A decent communication protocol must be adhered to. Foul language and use of abusive words/photographs in posts/avatars/signatures/topics is STRICTLY prohibited.

Explicit or any form of pornographic, indecent material is prohibited in all areas of the forum, If any such material is descovered, disciplinary action may be carried out.

No personal attacks or anything else that could cause offense to somebody else. Keep the posts positive.
Absolutely NO FLAMING. If you have unfavorable comments about anything, outside of a professional opinion, we ask that you keep them to yourself. Professional courtesy and common manners is the atmosphere in our forums.

Discussions involving politics or religion are to be avoided, due to their highly subjective nature which can lead to volatile and inconclusive debates.

If you are selling an item, use the "For Sale" section.
Make use of the following details in the subject:
1) If you are selling a part
(Example :Item Name)

2) If you are selling an automobile:
(Example :Year, Make, Model)

3a) If you are parting out a car:
(Example Parting Out: Year, Make, Model)
- Please include the parts that you are parting out in one post, and include prices for each part.

3b) If you are parting out specific parts from a car:

The contents of this classified post in the "For Sale" section must be posted in the following format with no exceptions or you have a chance of the post being deleted without any questions asked.

    Year (if applicable):
    Price:
    Overall Condition:
    Item Location:
I am willing to ship (Yes/No/NA):

    Contact Details
    Phone:
    Email Address:

    Any Pics?:

Post any restrictions about the offers. i.e. if the offer is for a certain province.

If you want to purchase an item, make use of the "Wanted" section.
Ensure that you clearly state the following information:
- thread contains the name of the item you require.
- the price you are willing to pay (if you have an estimate
- your location

Also note, the classifieds are not a place to voice an opinion on a product.

Sale of stolen goods is strictly prohibited. If we find out, we will forward your information to the proper authorities.

Questioning the value/price, linking to the same or similar item, or posting in an attempt to devalue the objects being sold is forbidden.

If your see a price that's too high, don't go and complain about/to the seller. The thread will die eventually because nobody would want to buy the item.

Once your item has sold, or you have found what you are looking for, please update your original post to state the item has been sold.

Do not post if your post has nothing to do with the item.

Do not take over another users thread. If you are selling something, start your own thread.

Post only one thread for your item.

Excessive bumping will result in a closed thread (twice a week TOPS).

"bump" type posts are to be separated by at least ONE "non-bump" type post - except if the above point.

GROUP BUYS are only permitted after authorization from an admin.
