At last some good news.....but I'll believe it when i see it.
Next-generation Nissan 200SX to get green light
Insiders say that Nissan is prepared to compete against the reborn Mazda RX-7 and VW Scirocco with a follow-up to its 200SX coupé.
Quote:
Replacing the 200SX that was scrapped in 2002, this new two-door will slot under the 370Z to give Nissan a more fuel-efficient and inexpensive fastback to rival the Scirocco and Renault’s three-door Mégane. Just like its predecessor, the new Nissan will be rear-wheel drive. However, finding a suitable platform on which to build it is proving difficult. Nissan considered a cut-down 370Z chassis but it was deemed to be too heavy. At one point, Nissan was considering the open-top, rear-drive sports car but this plan has been terminated. Nissan chose to utilize the next generation of its Tiida hatchback to boost its family car lineup alongside the Qashqai. This hatchback is sold in Ireland and Russia, but nowhere else in Europe. The Qashqai crossover has been named a success but the company still prefers a conventional hatch (which replaces the Almera) to compete against the VW Golf and Ford Focus across Europe.

Nissan found the solution to beat the German sports cars
Quote:
Nissan launched a challenging new series of poster and print adverts in order to highlight the fact that the Nissan 370Z and the flagship Nissan GT-R have superior performance but the cost less than their German rivals.
“The Winner Hans Down,” “The Germans Came Off Wurst,” “Kaisers Chiefed” and “Deutschland Deutschland Über-Rated”… these are the tongue-in-cheek phrases used in the campaign in order to make people ask why they would buy German brands when the Japanese cars can offer the same performances at more accessible prices. What Nissan did is: they taken an Audi TTS manual coupe around the streets of London blazoned with the words: “More expensive, slower and less powerful than a Nissan 370Z.” but also a Porsche Cayman bearing the slogan: “I dream of being as fast as a Nissan 370Z” on the side. “It simply challenges the convention of German sports cars being the only benchmark for performance and quality” said , Steve McLennan, Nissan Marketing Director. “Nissan is confident in the ability of 370Z and GT-R to eclipse our comparable German rivals in terms of outright performance and accessibility and it’s now time to shout about it.” he added.

Nissan’s guerilla marketing makes Porsche angry
Quote:
The latest Nissan guerilla marketing campaign dubbed “The Germans Came Off Wurst” made quite a buzz but it appears that Porsche didn’t like it and now is threatening Nissan with a sue over using its logo in its ad campaign.
This campaign includes a massive outdoor ad covering London’s Imax theatre with the headline “How to beat the Germans”. However, things got really ugly at this year’s Goodwood Festival of Speed when Porsche U.K. executives threaten Nissan with legal action. “The problem arose with them using our Porsche crests. They are our property and we do not give permission to any company to use our crests without our permission. This applies to any company.” said Andrea Baker, head of public relations at Porsche. After this, Nissan replaced the logo with the Porsche words but Audi and Bmw logos remained unchanged. Now let’s see the response from the other German manufacturers.

2010 Nissan GT-R by Koenigseder
Quote:
The Austria-based Koenigseder tuning company has released a package based on the Nissan GT-R. Nissan launched the car in 2007 with an engine capable of delivering 480hp.
Since then, the vehicle has been given a boost to 485hp with Nissan still adamant that the car not be tuned. This latest modification kit from Koenigseder has a bright orange color (the tuner’s favorite). The GT-R also got an aerodynamic kit that has a moderate design approach. The front bumper was fitted with an additional lower side, which integrates new air intakes.
The package also gets a set of side skirts that comes with new air intakes and is designed similarly as that of the front bumper add-on element. Furthermore, the rear bumper has been fitted with a diffuser. The car rides on 21-inch rims that have a two-color finish (black-orange).
With regards to the technical aspect, the Koenigseder Nissan GT-R has received a new air filter, an Akrapovic titanium exhaust system and an ECU remap.
These modifications result to the vehicle offering 580 hp, enabling the vehicle to hit 200 km/h (124 mph) in 9.8s. To handle the additional power, the GT-R is fitted with a KW suspension and a set of 21 inch rims (these use a two-color finish) covered with Yokohama Advan Sport tires.

2012 Nissan GT-R: first details
Quote:
As expected due to the numerous spy shots, Nissan updated the GT-R sports car for the 2012 model year, and thanks to our sources, the first photos were revealed.
To be in trend with the other sports cars manufacturers, the 2012 Nissan GT-R comes with new daytime running LEDs fitted in the redesigned front bumper. What is really interesting about this model, is that it now features a lower drag coefficient, 0.268 down from 0.272.
This means that the 2012 GT-R is the best in its class, even better than the Porsche 911 Carrera, which was the leader until now!
Furthermore, the 2012MY introduces two new colors: Aurora Flare Blue Pearl and Nebula Opel Black. Also, the base model will now be named Pure Edition.
The Pure Edition will get a price bump of almost $1,000 while the Premium Edition will be with $2,500 more expensive than the current version.
A new set of wheels will also be available! Dubbed Rays forged aluminum wheels, these ware with 3 kg (6.6lbs) lighter than the current wheels, this means that the car will be with 12 kg (26.4 lbs) lighter than the current model.
The wheels will be available in two colors: Hyper Blue Black and a Hyper Titanium

Nissan Ellure Concept: first details revealed
Quote:
Nissan has presented its model schedule for the Los Angeles Auto Show. There will be three world debuts. The first is the Ellure Concept, a vehicle that “adds a new dimension to traditional sedan design - a dimension named innovation.” According to the press release, the Nissan Ellure, “a dramatic new-value sedan exploration” is intended to provide to the segment a “higher level of progressive and distinctive expression” – giving the traditional sedan efficiency some added passion and emotion. The Nissan Quest minivan, which offers “innovative styling and functionality,” will also be making an appearance at the show. The third vehicle to debut is the Murano CrossCabriolet, which is Nissan’s attempt to make consumers understand the “crossover” concept.“ Murano CrossCabriolet, which holds the title as the world’s first all-wheel drive crossover convertible, provides the exhilaration that only a convertible can offer as well as extends the versatility of the Murano in several new ways. This four-seater offers sufficient space for golf bags or luggage (even with the top down), and a premium level interior. According to the press release, the Murano CrossCabriolet represents a “breakthrough in concept and design.”
Rumor: Nissan GT-R Egoist to replace Spec M version
Quote:
It’s not a secret anymore that Nissan is working on the GT-R Spec M, a more luxurious version of its popular sports car. What you didn’t know, until now, is that the new version of the GT-R is rumored to be called ‘Egoist’, inspired by both the Chanel perfume and the apparel maker of the same name.
Honestly to tell you we don’t like that perfume, but we will love the car. “Yes, there’s a bit of tongue in cheek in the name, and yes, the word does mean self-conceited, but we just wanted to have some fun with the name,” said a Nissan spokesman.
The new car is set to make its debut in Japan on October 13 and will carry a price tag of around $166,000. It is believed that the car will also incorporate the new design with revised grille and bumper, front intake duct as well as integrated daytime running LEDs.
Also, the car will get larger brake disks (up from 360 to 290 mm), new 10-spoke alloy wheels, new Recaro seats as well as more power and torque. Sources confirm the fact that the gear ratios will also be tweaked as well as the spring rates and rear suspension geometry.
